Liberty Announces New Leadership

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 19, 2009

Philadelphia, PA – Matt Driver, President and CEO of the Philadelphia Liberty Women’s Soccer team, is pleased to announce that the Liberty will be playing at a new venue this Summer (details to follow). From it’s new home, the Liberty will team up with Philadelphia area youth  clubs and other southeastern Pennsylvania youth soccer organ- izations with an eye on expanding it’s YPSL (Youth Premier Soccer League) Base.

The Liberty also announces the appointment of new head coach Seamus O’connor.  O’Connor, a long time Team Dynamics Instructor is very familiar with the WPSL (Women’s Professional Soccer League) following coaching stints  with both the AC Diablos and CDSA Future.

“The addition of Seamus O’Connor is a huge step in the right direction for the Liberty in 2009,” said Driver, a former coach with the New England Revolution (MLS), “as this insures that the team will be well organized on the field. We felt if we are going to make the best impact possible for the area with the Philadelphia Liberty, we needed to connect with a coach well versed in both the WPSL and Team Dynamics operating standards.  Coach  O’connor’s Professionalism exemplifies that mold.”

Tryouts for the 2009 Philadelphia Liberty will be announced at a later date.
Interested players are encouraged to attend upcoming tryout dates when eventually posted. To request a
tryout register form, contact Seamus O’Connor at soconnor@teamdynamicsllc.com   or call 609-272-9232. Players can also send their playing resume to Coach O’Connor with two references to be considered for the 2009 team roster. Additional information on the Philadelphia Liberty is available at www.philadelphialiberty.com.

New Liberty Head Coach
Seamus O'Connor

Seamus O’Connor
Liberty Head Coach

Seamus began his WPSL career in 2006 as Assistant Coach with the AC Diablos. The Diablos ended the season as Eastern Conference Mid-Atlantic Division Champions. In 2007, Seamus was appointed Head Coach of the CDSA Future. The Future comprised primarily of local high school athletes and Division III collegiate athletes, competed against teams featuring players from the United States Women’s National Pool, National Pool players from other countries, and Division I players from some of the nation’s top programs. O’Connor directed the Future to a very respectable 5th place finish which included 5 one-goal losses.
In addition to coaching the Philadelphia Liberty, Seamus, is the Director of Soccer at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia. As Director of Soccer, O’Connor oversees the administration of both the men’s and women’s soccer programs.
O’Connor graduated from Athlone Institute of Technology in Ireland in 1997. While in college, he trained with League of Ireland clubs Athlone Town and Longford Town. His soccer education includes licenses from the Football Association of Ireland and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. soconnor@teamdynamicsllc.com
